Increased Precautions We're Taking in Response to the Coronavirus
As updates on the impact of the coronavirus continue to be released, we want to take a moment to inform you of the heightened preventative measures we have put in place at Wausau Comprehensive Treatment Center to keep our patients, their families, and our employees safe. All efforts are guided by and in adherence to the recommendations distributed by the CDC.

In adherence to the social distancing recommendations provided by the CDC, we have implemented strict protocols at our clinic to ensure the safety of our patients and staff.

  • Patients who have active symptoms of illness or a fever of 100 degrees or higher must call ahead to arrange after-hours dosing.
  • The number of people allowed inside the building at any given time is restricted based on county, state, and federal guidelines.
  • The number of people waiting in line is restricted based on county, state, and federal guidelines, and those present must maintain a minimum distance of six feet from one another.
  • To maintain line restrictions, patients are asked to wait in their cars until direction is given.

For specific information regarding these changes and limitations, please contact us directly.

Please note that for the safety of our patients, their families, and our staff, on-site visitation is no longer allowed at Wausau Comprehensive Treatment Center.

  • This restriction has been implemented in compliance with updated corporate and state regulations to further reduce the risks associated with COVID-19.
  • Alternate methods of communication for other services are being vetted and may be offered when deemed clinically appropriate.

For specific information regarding these changes and limitations, please contact us directly.

CDC updates are consistently monitored to ensure that all guidance followed is based on the latest information released.

Wausau Comprehensive Treatment Center is a leading provider of medically-supervised medication assisted treatment for individuals aged 18 and older who are struggling with an addiction to heroin or other opioids.

Our compassionate and knowledgeable team of physicians, counselors, and nurses understand the importance of providing patients with treatment options that successfully aid in long-term recovery. Wausau Comprehensive Treatment Center provides patients with the following medications that can be included within their individualized plans of treatment:

Methadone: Methadone is a medication that is categorized as an opioid agonist. Methadone works in the same manner as opioids do without causing the euphoric effects that are often associated with opioid use. Because of this, patients are able to experience a decrease in additional opioid cravings while also finding alleviation from the symptoms of withdrawal.

Subutex: Subutex is a partial opioid agonist-antagonist that includes buprenorphine as its single active ingredient. By blocking the effects of opioids within the brain, patients experience a reduction in cravings for additional opioids while also noticing a significant decrease in the symptoms associated with withdrawal.

Suboxone: Suboxone is comprised of naloxone and buprenorphine, which aid in reducing opioid cravings while also lowering the symptoms of opioid withdrawal. Unlike other medications prescribed during treatment, Suboxone will cause withdrawal symptoms should a patient attempt to abuse other opioids during treatment.

The specific medication prescribed, as well as the dosage required, will vary between patients depending on their individual needs. Medications can be adjusted and altered throughout the course of treatment should a patient’s needs change.

Wausau Comprehensive Treatment Center provides patients with the following therapeutic interventions to address the emotional component of addiction as they utilize either methadone, Subutex, or Suboxone to tackle the physical aspects of addiction:

  • Individual therapy sessions provide patients with the opportunity to process their emotions and program progression within a one-on-one setting with a highly qualified counselor.
  • Group counselling sessions are counselor-led sessions and allow patients to come together with their peers in order to gain the support and encouragement from others who have also experiencing similar struggles with addiction.

By providing comprehensive treatment to patients struggling with addictions to opioids, Wausau Comprehensive Treatment Center provides patients with the highest quality of individualized care available. Combining medication assisted treatment with therapeutic interventions allows our patients the opportunity to achieve and maintain long-term recovery.
